CD Review - Glass Casket - We Are Gathered Here Today

With the release of their new album “A Desperate Man’s Diary” I decided to take a look back at “We Are Gathered Here Today” released in 2004.

Glass Casket have some basic things from death metal, like some of the brutal riffing, tremolo picked riffs, double bass beats and blast beats, and low, choked vocals. They supplement this by having giving the riffs a jazzy jammed out feel, some high dissonant tones, odd time signature chugga chugga style breakdowns and a mostly higher rough vocal range through the album. Every once in awhile, they’ll add something to a song you wouldn’t expect, like a melodic Ted Nugent style guitar solo, clean singing, or a haunting melody. While the structure of the songs has no repeating verses or choruses, they’re very well crafted.

It’s a very creative effort that I definitely recommend trying.
